Major Hospital Laboratory

Major Hospital's laboratories are widely recognized as leading clinical laboratories in central Indiana. Our labs are committed to serving patients with courtesy and professionalism, and are federally licensed and fully accredited by the Health care Facilities Accreditation Program. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, our labs ensure accurate and timely test results. Our labs offers a wide and comprehensive array of services to help your doctor determine your medical needs.

Major Hospital has three laboratory locations for your convenience. To choose the lab that best meets your needs, see your doctor first.

Hours of operation
Hospital Laboratory Outpatient Draw Site Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Rampart Laboratory Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Main Hospital Sunday: 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. only


Laboratory Location
Hospital Laboratory Outpatient Draw Site is located at 157 W. Washington Street, Shelbyville, IN. Parking in back.

The Rampart Laboratory is located on the first floor of the Rampart Professional Building at 30 West Rampart Street in Shelbyville, Indiana. 

The Hospital Laboratory is located adjacent to the Gift Shop in the front lobby of Major Hospital at 150 West Washington Street in Shelbyville, Indiana.


Do I need to schedule an appointment?
In most cases, no appointment is necessary. For questions or to schedule a Glucose Tolerance Test, please call us at (317) 398-5285.


What information do I need to bring to my lab visit?
Testing will only be performed by order of a physician or other licensed practitioner. Please bring your order with you or have your provider fax the order to the laboratory at (317) 398-1824. Also, please bring your insurance information and a list of your current medications.


What are the Major Hospital Laboratory credentials?
Our professional technical staff consists of highly educated and experienced clinical laboratory scientists (CLS) and medical technologists. The clinical laboratory scientist is a five year Bachelor of Science degree offered by universities throughout the United States. Approximately 60% of are technical staff hold the CLS degree. Our scientists and technicians work together to consistently give you the highest quality laboratory results.
