At Major Hospital, we realize that a child's hospital admission is stressful for both your child and your family. That's why our team of health care professionals does everything possible to make your child's stay comfortable. While your child is with us, we will provide you with a guest tray at every meal, a pull out bed and educational material related to your child’s illness. We believe you and your family are your child's main source of strength and support and encourage you to participate in your child's care.
Our staff is always available to answer your questions. For more information, please call (317) 392-6655.
When are visiting hours? Parents have no set visiting hours and may visit their child at anytime. Visiting hours for guests are from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily; however, no one under the age of 12 will be allowed on the unit (unless they are a sibling) and visitors ages 12 - 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. How can I prepare for my child's stay at Major Hospital? The notion of staying in a hospital may cause fear and distress in children. We encourage you to take some time to discuss the hospital visit with your child ahead of time. Explaining the reasons for hospitalization in terms a child understands can help ease some initial anxiety.
To help your child feel connected to your home and family, we encourage bringing comforting items from home, such as:
Favorite stuffed animal or blanket
Bathrobe and slippers to wear over hospital pajamas
A few books or activities to help pass the time
Favorite DVD's (each room is equipped with a TV/DVD player)
We also have a supply of books and toys in our playroom. May I stay in my child's room overnight? We request that one parent stay overnight. Each room has a bed that folds out for your sleeping comfort. When staying with your child, please remember to bring toiletries, clothes and other essentials.
